Sand Cast Beads, 4x5mm, Barrels/Tube, Krobo Beads, African Trade, 3mm hole, Burnt Sienna, Brown, 11 to 12 inch strands, Priced per Strand
Sand Cast beads traditionally are created by the Krobo tribe in Ghana circa late 1800s/early 1900s. They are sand casted beads, and created by grinding recycled glass bottles into a fine powder, into a clay mold, and heated until the powdered glass fuse together without completely melting. Every bead has a rustic sandy textured, and is unique and slightly irregular. This process of making these glass beads is an ancient method dating back to over 1000 years ago and it is still used today.
I've sold beads for over 20 years. As with all items I sell - I'm all about quality!
